Foundation Board Reorganization

Steven Mills joined the board in October 2010 to replace Lisa Shaw who had to resign when she became a full time school employee.  Lisa agree to stay on as an Ex Officio (non-voting) member as a high school educator representative.  Myrtle Little also serves as a high school representative.  Robin Holman and Anna Clary are the elementary representatives.  We appreciate the time these teachers and the School Administrators give to attend meetings and give input from educator's perspective.

At our July 2011 meeting the current officers agreed to serve for another year.  Myrtle Little was nominated to serve as Assistant Treasurer as it was deemed a back-up was needed for times when the Treasurer might now be available.

The following officers were installed at our Annual Meeting August 11, 2011.

President's Message:

Cooperation, enthusiasm, positive feedback, and support have been key components in the success of the Alton Public School Foundation during the past year.  It has taken a team effort from the Board of Education, the school administration, teachers, staff, alumni, school patrons, students, and friends in order to accomplish our goals.  Over $24,000.00 in grants has been awarded this year.  They include the digital sign, scholarships for graduating seniors, Cooper grants, and memorial contributions for the classrooms and departments, choir robes for the music department and eyeglasses for students,  In addition, a large projection screen was purchased for the elementary multi-purpose building with general revenue funds.  It was installed before school began this year.

Our current special project is to purchase new stage curtains and a large projection screen for the high school gym.  Also, we recently established a general scholarship fund.  Support of these special projects or any other funds would be appreciated.

The Alton Public School Foundation Board will always strive to make you aware of projects that will benefit the students and the Alton R-IV School.  Thank you for your past generosity.  We need your continued support.
