Chad Cargill presented his ACT Workshop to approximately 180 students from across the area at Willow Springs High School on Thursday, March 17. He gave students practical hands-on instructions that he developed through his experiences of taking the ACT 18 times as a student. He raised his score from 19 to a 32. Chad shared strategies for the test as a whole and then each of the four individual sections. 23 students from Alton High School chose to take advantage of this workshop.
He also provided excellent tips on searching scholarships. One of his most important suggestions was that students create their own service projects. By thinking of something they have a passion for, such as reading, sports, etc., and recruiting a few friends, they develop their own service projects. More and more scholarships are giving service to the community high points when considering to whom they award the scholarships. Our students were already busy developing ideas they might want to use in the future.
This workshop provided many excellent strategies and suggestions for taking the ACT test and improving student scores. Alton students were excited and eager to use the many tips given.
