Financial Aid is an extremely important topic for college students. As a junior, students should start researching the types of financial aid and begin looking at the process to obtain it. As a senior, students should begin the actual process of completing paperwork for grants, loans, and scholarships. Scholarships and most grants are "free" money for students. Loans, as we all know, are not "free" money. They must be paid back eventually.
Alton High School will be hosting a financial aid presentation on Thursday, November 3rd at 5:30 in the high school library for juniors, seniors, and their parents/guardians. This is an opportunity for you to become more familiar with the types of financial aid and the steps required to obtain them. A financial aid officer will present important information on the FAFSA. This is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is the basis for almost all financial aid determinations.
All juniors, seniors, and their parents are invited and highly encouraged to come to this meeting. If you need more information, please call Mrs. Pam Gilliland, the high school counselor, at 417-778-7215 ext. 224.
