The Alton R-IV School District is proud to announce the Introduction of Welding in Career and Technical Education. Zach Wheeler, an Alton High School Graduate and professional welder, has been hired to lead our students into the workforce. According to Industry Connect (2022), the welding industry will need to recruit more than 330,000 welders and welding professionals that will be needed to fill jobs over the next four years. Globally, welding is among the skills most highly in demand. Employment options span the globe, with potential careers in boiler making, sheet metal fabrication, structural iron and steel manufacturing, machine operation and maintenance, and more.
To increase opportunities for students in this growing industry, Mr. Wheeler will provide leadership for our students to train for certification for future success. We are so happy to expand opportunities for the students of Alton R-IV.
