ALTON R-IV SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION FILING NOTICE

The Alton R-IV School District will accept declarations of candidacy from any person
interested in running for a position on the School Board in the April 2, 2024 election. There
are two (2) positions available with three (3) year terms each. Candidates will be placed
on the ballot in the order in which they file. The successful candidates will, by law, be
required to complete 18.5 hours of School Board Member Training.

A school board member in Missouri must be:
 A U.S. citizen
 A resident taxpayer of a district
 A resident of Missouri and the district for at least one year
 At least 24 years old

Candidates must also:
 Be current on state and local taxes (will be required to file form 5120 with the Missouri
Department of Revenue)
 Have not been found guilty of or pled guilty to a felony under Missouri or federal law
 Have not registered or required to register as a sex offender
 Have filed required campaign documents for all previous campaigns, if any

Persons interested may file at the superintendent’s office located at 505 School Street,
Alton, Missouri. Filing will begin on December 5, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. and will continue
during the district’s regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8:00
a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Except for the first and last day of filing, filing will not occur on days
the school district’s offices are closed due to inclement weather or illness. Due to the
holidays, the District office will not be open for normal hours from December 22, 2023,
through December 25, 2023. The office will re-open on the last day of candidate filing,
Tuesday, December 26, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
