Augustus Hood will graduate from Alton High School in 2025. He is the son of Sidney and Heather Hood and the brother of Savana Hood. One of his favorite things to do with his family is go to the lake, and one of his best childhood memories is racing four-wheelers and dirt bikes.
During high school, Gus was involved in FFA and FCCLA for one year each. He says his favorite activity is P.E. because he enjoys being active and having fun. A favorite memory from high school is going to Osage Beach on his first FCCLA trip.
The class Gus enjoyed the most was Ag, where he liked welding in the shop and spending time with friends. Outside of school, he enjoys traveling. If he had one wish, it would be to be very successful in life. He describes himself as energetic, optimistic, and adventurous.
After graduation, Gus plans to start a career in the oilfield industry. In 10 years, he sees himself owning a house. His bucket list includes skydiving, traveling to China, and being in a NASCAR race.
Gus admires his dad the most because he is hardworking and a positive role model. The teacher who had the biggest impact on him is Mrs. Snyder, who always pushed him to do his best.
What he’ll miss most about AHS is getting to see his friends every day. If he could be remembered for one thing, it would be the FCCLA school trips. His advice to underclassmen is:
“A tree falls the way it leans.”
