The Alton Cross-Country Teams continue to show great success. On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, the Varsity boys placed first in the Van Buren 2022 Fall Invitational Meet. All members continued to impress as Alton edged Van Buren for the boys' team title by 3 points in the Small School Division for teams in the two smallest classes. Rydan Deckard of Alton won the race in 17:08, followed by teammate Tucker Combs.
The Comets earned two more points over Van Buren as Cory Miller was 8th to cross the finish line. Trenton Cunningham and Gunnar Kennedy each had a strong showing as they finished 12th and 15th, respectively. Junior High stand-out Cameron Hardwick finished first, with Shalana Whittenburg finishing 8th for the high school girls. We are appreciative of the dedication shown by Marilyn and Michael Cockrum, the husband and wife cross-country coaching team.
