The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has made Build Your Own grants available to implement strategies to improve teacher retention, with an emphasis on providing funds to schools with harder to fill positions, such as those serving higher numbers of students in poverty. The Alton R-IV Public School District has rewarded three grants of $1000 each to teachers who began in the Alton School District as either a paraprofessional or who have served before graduation as a Teacher-of-Record with the intent to hire full-time upon graduation. We will continue supporting teachers who choose to return to our district to serve and appreciate every teacher who has chosen to teach in Alton R-IV. Today we celebrate Jessie Richardson, Tiffany Sisco, and Tiffany Orchard. It's a Great Day to Be a Comet!
