Alton Elementary School hosted Title I Parent Information Night on Thursday, October 6, 2022. Families enjoyed cookies while learning about the curriculum taught in their student's classes. Teachers made presentations about how they teach math, language arts, music, and art. Information was discussed that would allow parents to support student learning at home. Mrs. Larissa Staton, the principal, presented the school's improvement plan to those in attendance. The focused strategy asks students to show what they know and to work with their learning in more challenging ways. The renewed attention to academic rigor allows for data-driven decision making with an increased emphasis on individual student needs. Negative behaviors within the classroom have decreased, and students have responded positively to an environment that more readily addresses their needs.
