I want my students to know that if they need anything to please reach out. We can talk (via phone or email or google classroom). If you are in need of anything else, I will do my best to get whatever I can for you. Mrs. Gilliland - High School Counselor

Alton R-4 will be extending our closure through April 24, 2020.
While nothing would make us happier as educators than to return to normal in-person operations immediately, that simply is not prudent or practical at this time. With that said, it also is not in anyone’s best interest to be left guessing on a daily and weekly timeline as to the operational plans of the Alton R-4 School District.
This closure extension through April 24, 2020 will include the formal position that no co-curricular or extra-curricular practices/competitions or events/trips will occur as well as the continued protocol of no public use of campus facilities by members of the community.
Please continue to check our website and Facebook page for ongoing updates and notices relevant to COVID-19 situation.

Seniors: 5 scholarships are due today Tuesday, March 31)! I will be here until 2:00 or so. Make sure you have them to me by email or bring them to me at the school before then.

9th - 12th Grade: If you planned to take a dual enrollment course for next year (2020-2021) and you did not return your application to me, please email me - pamgilliland@alton.k12.mo.us. I need this information by Wednesday, April 1st if at all possible. Mrs. Gilliland

Students in Mrs. Thompson's freshmen and sophomore classes: I have assigned a new assignment on Study Sync. Please check your school email for vocabulary and the name of the assignment. Stay well and hope to see you soon!

All academic packets (PS-6th gr.) that were not picked up yesterday at the school were mailed today. We had several that we could not mail because the address had not been updated. PLEASE make sure that your address, email, and phone number have been updated with us. If you need to make changes, email Holly Reese (hollyreese@alton.k12.mo.us).
Academic packets are expected to be returned each Sunday during grab and go pickup. If you are unable to return the packet on Sundays we will SOON have a drop box available outside the Superintendent's office. We will make an announcement when it is ready.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your patience with us as we try to figure all of this out! We appreciate you!

Remember, TODAY from 2:00-4:00 PM we will be having our grab and go meals and academic packet pickups at the school. You don't have to sit in the meal service line if you only want the academic packet. Visit our COVID-19 page for further guidance. https://www.alton.k12.mo.us/covid-19-preparedness-and-response--7 See you soon and please stay IN your vehicles.

Seniors: The Shelter Insurance Scholarship and the Jane Biles Reese Scholarship both have deadlines on their applications of March 30th. We are moving those to Tuesday, March 31st. Mrs. Gilliland will be at school on Tuesday to take those applications and any others you have ready. There are several due next week. Keep working on them!

Seamless Summer Student Meal Breakfast and Lunch Pickup Instructions for Alton R-IV.
Pickups will occur on Sunday March 29, 2020 from 2:00-4:00pm on the Alton Campus. Sunday afternoons from 2:00-4:00pm will also be the standard pickup date and time until further notice for this service provided by Alton R-IV.
Vehicles will enter campus and follow the standard one-way method around the High School Building and form a line for the food pickup near the main entrance to the Elementary Building. Literally, think of the line like a fast food restaurant drive-thru.
Individuals are to stay in the vehicle and not park and get out.
The child receiving the meals MUST BE IN THE VEHICLE for the food to be distributed (this is a state regulation we must abide by).
Five breakfast meals and five lunch meals along with the corresponding milk will be provided to each eligible child under the age of 18.

Alton R-IV will be offering free grab-and-go food pickup for families who need this service. The program is for children ages 18 or under. We will provide breakfast and lunch.
Details on the exact date, time, and location will be announced soon. Children must be in the vehicle for pickup.
At this point we are trying to get a head count to order the food.
Use the link below to indicate your interest in the program.

PROM, scheduled for April 11th, is currently postponed. Length of quarantine is uncertain, therefore we cannot set a definite date at this time. All other school activities are on hold until we resume classes.
AMI (Alternative Method of Instruction) packets will be mailed out each week, as needed. If your student has been receiving work via the internet then teachers will continue using that format.
This information is directed toward our JH and/or HS students.
