DUE NOVEMBER 5 - ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP - 500 4-YEAR AWARDS FROM $4000 TO $50,000 - seniors will be judged on Scholarship, Leadership, and Financial Need. Apply at enf.elks.org/mvs.

DUE OCTOBER 31 - MASFAP WHO’S MAKING A DIFFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP - any 2019 senior graduating from a Missouri High School planning to attend a private, public 2 or 4 year institution, or vocational-technical school in MO should apply. Go to www.myscholarshipcentral.org to apply.

DUE OCTOBER 25 - HORATIO ALGER NATIONAL & STATE SCHOLARSHIPS - up to $25,000 - full-time seniors who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree (can start at a 2-year college). Must demonstrate financial need, be involved in co-curricular and community service, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. If your high school student is enrolled in a Rosetta Stone Foreign Language course, please remember they need to make a $40 (cash or check made payable to AHS) security deposit for the use of the headphones, ASAP. They may also purchase their own USB combo speaker & headphone.

JUNIORS, SOPHOMORES, FRESHMEN: U.S. MILITARY SERVICE ACADEMY DAY is Saturday, September 14 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO. State Representatives and Senators will attend as well as representatives of all four Military Academies.

Transportation Policy: To clarify any confusion, we are asking that parents please provide a primary address, one that your child/children will go to every day. Then, please provide a secondary address that children will go to in an emergency. If an address change needs to be made, please do so in the office. If you have any questions, please call the office.

*August 13, 2019 prior to the Alton R-IV Open House: The Alton Public School Foundation will host a hotdog supper which includes a hotdog, chips, and drink for $2.00 in the Alton Elementary Multi-Purpose Building beginning at 5:30 pm. Spring Dipper Ice Cream will also be available for purchase as well.

FYI: The bus drivers will be at Open House tomorrow night (6:00-7:30). Please stop by their table in the elementary lobby if you have questions about pick up and/or drop off times.

Meet Mrs. Andrea Foerster- HS Science
Mrs. Foerster lives in Van Buren, MO and also taught at the Van Buren School District. Her husband, Mr. Brian Foerster, is our high school math teacher.

Had a great first meeting with the "Open Arms" group this morning. Their goals are to welcome new students and be a contact for them, to be a resource of info for clubs and activities, and to help other students who might be struggling with an issue or just need a buddy.
