On Sunday, March 25, 2018 the Alton R-IV campus had a vandalism event involving the theft of a school bus. During this incident, the stolen bus hit several other buses and damaged them as well as the stolen bus being backed into the HS Building. The stolen bus did not leave the campus before the event ended and no one was injured.
While repairs will be on-going after classes resume on April 3, 2018, outside agencies have inspected both the bus fleet and HS Building and deemed each safe and ready for normal operations beginning on April 3, 2018 when classes resume at Alton R-IV.
We always analyze and review events anytime we have a safety or security incident and have implemented additional safety precautions as a result of this incident.
