Attention: because of the threat of heavy rains tomorrow, the 5/6 grade field to Round & Alley Spring has been cancelled. Students will remain at school on Friday, September 7.

Large clusters of boys jamming up the hallways usually are not a good sign but today it is a blessing to see. Our Alton comet boys clustered the halls this morning to welcome back Coach Qualls. It's a good day to be a comet. We all missed you Coach.

Our hearts are breaking today for Mrs. Reeves, Macy, and Macoy. Classmates of Macy and Macoy took a minute to think of them today. Our little Aubrey used her moment of silence to say a prayer for her sweet friend Macy! Please continue to lift up the Reeves family in your prayers!
An account has been set up at the Alton Bank for Macy and Macoy. If you would like to make a donation to their account, please drop off the donation at the Alton Bank or the Alton Elementary Office. All checks should be made payable to: "For the Benefit of Macy Reeves and Macoy Reeves."

Parents,
Could you please take a minute to complete our PBiS School Safety Survey? The survey will only take a few minutes to complete, but the information will give us a better idea of safety concerns that exist in our school. Thanks for your help with this! The link for the survey is included below!

Thanks to the Alton Burger Palace, each month a lucky member of our staff will be randomly selected to win supper for his or her family from the Alton Burger Palace! Thank you to Pamela and everyone at Alton Burger Palace for being so incredibly supportive of our school! This month's winner is Mrs. Annie Whitten! Mrs. Whitten teaches art at Alton Elementary. Mrs. Whitten is one of the most talented people that has ever existed! We are lucky enough to have an elementary school that is more beautiful than ever before because it is filled with her murals! Mrs. Whitten works hard to put on an incredible art show each spring as well. If you ask our students, Art class is one of the most beloved classrooms in the school! Mrs. Whitten is also an amazing resource for all of our teachers when it comes to giving classroom management or behavior modification advice. Our school is a better place because Mrs. Whitten graces our halls. Mrs. Whitten says her favorite part of working at Alton Elementary is how happy the kids are when they come to art class. We all love you Mrs. Whitten! Enjoy your free supper from the Alton Burger Palace! You deserve it!

Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

We started our morning at Alton Elementary with an assembly. We plan to make monthly assemblies a routine part of our month throughout the school year. Each assembly will focus on a specific part of our Comet Matrix. Today, students focused on showing their Comet Pride by always being prepared. Students also learned about proper bathroom behavior. The classrooms who collected the most tickets for the month were announced as well. The assembly turned out to be lots of fun and a huge success! We look forward to our next assembly at the end of September!

Good morning! We want to thank all of the parents that attended the Elementary Parent Information Night! We loved seeing parents come out to support our programs.

If a student chooses to, he or she may use a ticket to enter for a chance to be the Cosmo Kid of the Day. The two chosen students have their names announced during morning announcements and also get to ride around in the super cool seats pictured below for an entire day! The students are loving this opportunity! #EveryCometCounts #PBS #CometPride
