This is Eric Allen, Superintendent at Alton R-IV, and I am reaching out to inform you of a situation we had on campus earlier today:
Alton R-IV School Officials notified the Oregon County Sheriff's Office on 09/27/2017 at approximately 9:40am that multiple students had reported that another student had been making threats of violence at the school on social media and was in possession of a knife on campus. School Officials separated the identified student from the rest of the student body and contacted law enforcement immediately.
Following an investigation by officers from the Alton Police Department and the Oregon County Sheriff's Office, a fifteen year old student has been detained and transferred to the custody of the 37th Judicial Circuit Juvenile Office.
Alton's BETA club is sponsoring a blood drive from 1-6pm in the FEMA building. Come save a life!!

The senior concession purchased a Frosty Fruit Slushy machine. The Healthy Slushy meets USDA's Smart Snacks in School Fundraising & Beverage Guidelines. Alton students who are taking the dual credit Biology course through MSU-WP got a visit from Biology Professor Dr. Benjamin Wheeler. Dr. Wheeler brought lab supplies and discussed content and expectations with the students.
